My client is a growing Australian consumer electronics company with a global customer base.
They're currently looking for a senior Mechanical Engineer who has a focus on Product Design.
You will be a key member of their New Product Development team working on products from initial concept and design stages through to final production.
This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering high quality products.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-end delivery of projects, from initial briefing to production, within a dynamic product development environment.
Possess a robust understanding of product compliance requirements and testing methodologies.
Conduct performance testing and quality control measures to uphold product excellence.
Proactively utilize initiative and creativity to influence internal team strategies and drive innovation.
Offer valuable suggestions to shape the future pipeline of product offerings.
Drive product development initiatives from concept to mass production, overseeing the design, development, and specification of parts, components, and assemblies.
Utilize 3D software to generate and review designs, including technical drawings, engineering specifications, Bill of Materials, and related documentation.
Collaborate effectively on Request for Quotation (RFQ), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Quality Assurance (QA) processes.
Fabricate prototypes using modern prototyping tools and processes for thorough evaluation and testing.
Assist in compliance and certification processes to meet regulatory requirements.
Provide valuable suggestions for the future pipeline of products and technologies.
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated industry expertise in product design engineering within the consumer/technology sector, with a strong track record in problem-solving (experience in electromechanical domains is highly preferred).
Extensive experience across a range of manufacturing processes, including injection moulding, metal casting, metal fabrication, and CNC machining (nice to have).
Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks.
Proficient in CAD software, particularly advanced modelling in SolidWorks (required) and familiarity with OnShape (desirable).
