About The Role

AMSA is seeking an experienced Data Engineer, to work within the Data Environment Design Project within the Data Capability and Analytics Unit in Policy and Regulation Division. 
 
About you
    1.  You enjoy working in a tight-knit agile project team providing data capabilities and services to technical and business stakeholders. You communicate well, share knowledge and experiences, have a can-do and flexible approach, and follow processes and documentation requirements.
       
       
      2.You must have a strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience in data engineering and development across a diverse range of platforms, especially a sound understanding of and demonstrated experience in modern cloud-based technologies.
       
       
      3.You must have a strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience in business analysis and data analysis, and in documentation of these.
       
       
      4.You must have a strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience in technical and business stakeholder engagement.
       
The Responsibilities 

The Data Engineer will have primary responsibility for the build of the prototype, working with other members of the team, IT Services and vendors. The responsibilities Data Engineer include:
  • Analysing and supporting data processes, analytics and reporting already in place using PowerBI.
  • Working with the team and business areas to identify appropriate examples to be used to demonstrate the capabilities and benefits of a data environment for reporting and analytics.
  • Design, develop, document, test and demonstrate data pipelines, including data ingestions, data transformations, data integration, data modelling and data presentations.
  • Undertake, as required, analysis on the data used and its contributing source systems to identify problems that reduce the accuracy, data quality or performance of analytics products and reports.
  • Remediating issues by developing necessary cleaning rules, ETL programs, etc, and working with IT and business.
  • Supporting users and technical staff to resolve issues with data ingestion, processing, data quality, access, tool use, etc for the prototype.
  • Helping design and develop a new modern data warehouse on the platform, with processes for access, security, data loads, data models, enrichment, reporting and analytics.
