We are looking for an experienced Senior Storage Engineer to join a large and complex ICT environment. This role sits within an ICT operations team that supports critical infrastructure and ensures systems remain stable, secure, and reliable.
You will work as part of an infrastructure platforms team that manages data centres, storage, backup, and virtual environments, and you will play a key role in shaping the future of storage and data platforms.
12‑month contract, with the possibility of 2 additional 12‑month extensions
Candidates must be Australian Citizens and a minimum Baseline clearance is required
The role is based in Canberra, ACT. Candidates must be available to work on‑site
What you will do
Deploy, configure, manage, and optimise enterprise storage systems
Manage physical and virtual storage platforms
Configure and maintain Storage Area Network (SAN) switches
Support backup, restore, and data protection services
Produce design, build, and operations documentation
Provide knowledge sharing and mentoring to junior team members
Support after‑hours on‑call infrastructure activities when required
Contribute to planning and adopting new and emerging technologies

What we are looking for
Strong experience designing, managing, tuning, and troubleshooting enterprise storage systems
Hands‑on experience with SAN technologies and storage switching
Proven ability to write clear design, build, and operational documents
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Confidence working with senior technical staff and stakeholders
Experience presenting technical information and coaching or mentoring team members
Solid knowledge of backup and replication solutions, including Veeam
Nice to have
Experience working in large government or enterprise environments
Exposure to emerging storage or data technologies
Experience supporting 24/7 or on‑call infrastructure services
A proactive mindset and strong problem‑solving skills
