About the Role
The Senior Product Owner works with the teams, partners, and vendors which deliver IT services. This role provides product and service expertise and support for the establishment and subsequent management of the IT infrastructure products and services in and around the datacentre & cloud networks. 
Areas of accountability, and/or responsibility, include core network services and datacentre strategy, roadmap, finance and billing, risk management, communications, stakeholder management, and delivery oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop the strategic plan for core network infrastructure and associated services to produce a co-ordinated roadmap of business supported initiatives.
  • Identify and invest in services that align with strategy business objectives, that include but are not limited to improving delivery speed, reliability functionality and cost of IT.
  • Liaise with and provide direction to our outsourced partner to deliver solutions (and other partners as required
  • Liaise with and provide direction to internal stakeholders to deliver solutions (networks, hosting, storage & data protection, security architecture, project management, operations, finance, risk)
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Network Product team,  Network Architecture team and Delivery teams to ensure successful outcomes of the portfolio
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the Networks Strategy for the organisation which is in line with the larger organisational strategy & in sync with the hosting/platforms/storage Strategies
  • Manage technology obsolescence pertaining to Core Network Products at play i.e. bring in latest technologies to the organisation that add value and retire the one that have reached EOSL
  • Assist in the crafting & maintaining of the Networks Roadmap based on the current & future state in accordance with the Organisational and Product Roadmaps
  • Ensure that any defects in the Core Network Products that has entered into production are dealt with on priority and taken through to a permanent resolution
  • Contribute to effective Capex & Opex budgets for the Networks Portfolio
  • Work effectively with the Operations & Build Teams to ensure that all the Core Network implementations are as per agreed Woolworths standards & that learnings from production incidents are implemented to avoid repeat incidents in the future
  • Continuously evaluate the risks present in the Core Networks Estate and come up with a mitigation plan
  • Come up with innovative ways of doing things better i.e. Automation, New Tooling, Scripting etc so that the overall cost could be reduced for the organisation, while maintaining same or better service levels
  • Creation of monthly product reporting, looking at service strategy, service design and continual service improvement 

About You
  • 8 Years plus experience in the IT industry as a whole especially in technology led roles
  • 5 Years plus experience as a Product or Service Owner or similar role
  • Significant experience in designing/maintaining Data Centre Network Platforms
  • Experience working in the retail/banking domains would be preferred
  • Experience managing software/systems contracts & commercials 
  • Experience in developing Strategy and Roadmap
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining budgets and chargeback models
  • Experience in delivering large enterprise programs of work
Technical capability
  • Core Network Platforms: Understand concepts around data centre platforms including intent-based and software defined networking, routing, load balancing, security, and networks for storage, databases and data protection
  • Virtualisation Technologies: Understand virtualisation technologies and network function virtualisation such as Cisco ACI, VMware NSX/NSX-T and Azure and how they impact their guest operating systems and workloads
  • Cloud Connectivity Technologies: Understand data centre interconnections, network overlays, DCI’s and DWDM services
  • Automation: Understand concepts around Infrastructure automation including configuration management, continuous integration and delivery as it pertains to infrastructure
  • Delivery: Proven track record in Enterprise IT program delivery.  Agile training and/or delivery is desirable.
