Are you a hands‑on Linux expert who thrives on designing and owning large-scale platforms? This role offers the opportunity to shape and modernise enterprise Linux environments while staying deeply technical.

What you will do
  • Design, build, and own large-scale Linux platforms supporting 650+ hosts in secure on‑prem environments
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of Linux Standard Operating Environments (SOEs)
  • Drive platform engineering decisions across Ubuntu (22/24) and some RHEL systems
  • Establish and enforce platform standards covering:
    • Security hardening
    • High availability and resilience
    • Performance tuning and capacity planning
    • Patch management and lifecycle strategies
  • Act as the technical authority for Linux architecture, guiding complex platform changes and modernisation initiatives
  • Champion automation and engineering best practices design solutions rather than simply follow runbooks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure

Technologies you will work with
  • Linux distributions: Ubuntu (22/24), RHEL
  • Infrastructure: On-premises environments at enterprise scale
  • Automation & scripting: Bash, Python, Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
  • Platform services: Monitoring, logging, patching, and configuration management tools
  • Security frameworks and hardening tools
  • Virtualisation and enterprise infrastructure ecosystems

You should have
  • Strong experience in Linux platform engineering at scale (hundreds of servers)
  • Deep expertise in Ubuntu and/or RHEL environments
  • Proven ability to design and implement Linux platforms, not just operate them
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Security hardening practices
    • System performance, availability, and resilience design
    • Patch management and lifecycle governance
  • Hands‑on experience with automation and scripting
  • Ability to act as a technical leader, making architectural decisions and guiding delivery
  • Strong problem-solving skills and engineering mindset

Nice to have
  • Experience with enterprise-scale platform modernisation initiatives
  • Knowledge of hybrid or cloud-integrated infrastructure environments
  • Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with compliance-driven or highly secure environments
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineers in a technical capacity
