You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary Information & Technology team as a senior technical specialist, operating at an EL1‑equivalent level. Your work will directly support operational effectiveness, executive reporting, and long‑term data strategy.
Contract length: 12‑month initial contract, with up to two further 12‑month extensions available
Security & citizenship: Must be an Australian Citizen and hold a minimum NV1 security clearance
Location: Sydney or Canberra
Work style: Hybrid environment with at least two days per week on‑site, remaining days worked remotely
In this role, you will be responsible for
Translate business questions into reporting solutions using Tableau, Power BI, and Jira
Shape and improve core reporting capabilities that support operational agility
Partner with business and technology teams to design governance models that stick
Migrate and rationalise data so analytics are accurate, consistent, and reliable
Architect reporting solutions that meet today’s needs while considering long‑term data retention and system direction
Design, build, test, and release dashboards and reports that answer real operational questions
Present insights, trends, and recommendations that influence future reporting and platform direction
Document what you deliver and hand it over cleanly so teams can confidently support and evolve it
Identify ways to get more value from existing BI platforms and work with delivery teams to implement enhancements and upgrades
This is a senior specialist role where your judgement, prioritisation, and ability to lead through influence matter just as much as your technical skill.

To be successful in this role, you will have
Proven experience designing, implementing, and governing enterprise Business Intelligence solutions
Strong stakeholder management skills, including working directly with senior leaders and executives
Confidence operating as a senior technical specialist in complex, regulated environments
Experience designing solutions within PROTECTED or similarly classified environments
A practical, analytical mindset with excellent problem‑solving ability
The ability to balance immediate reporting needs with longer‑term platform sustainability
Nice to have
A solid understanding of how end‑to‑end BI ecosystems work, beyond a single tool
Strong communication skills you can explain complex data simply and clearly
A collaborative working style and experience partnering with developers, analysts, and engineers
Experience improving reporting maturity across organisations rather than just delivering one‑off dashboards
